Bio

Dr. Joanna Komoska has been in private practice since 1981. She received her doctorate from Columbia University with a dissertation on arguing and her Masters in Social work focused on systems theory. Dr. Komoska graduated from Hunter College summa cum laude with honors in psychology. She has also received training for family therapy at The Ackerman Institute. As a Quaker Dr. Komoska has a profound interest in the peaceful resolution of conflict. Her concerns led her to help start The Retreat of East Hampton, a facility that aids survivors of family violence where she served as their first Board President. Dr. Komoska is currently an Advanced Practitioner with the Association for Conflict Resolution as well as continuing her own research in the dynamics of conflict. In her current practice, she works primarily with couples supporting them to resolve differences in ways that lead to greater fulfillment and happier, more creative lives.
